Daniel Yergin: The Prize. The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power
I know that I'm late to the party, but this is an excellent book and required reading if you want to understand 20th and 21st century history.
The Monster of Nix by Rosto
The Monster of Nix by Studio Rosto A.D. is a 30 minute long animated musical which tells the story of Willy, a troubled boy who fights the destructive force of an all-devouring monster in the village of Nix. It's pretty awesome and quite moving too. As a quick note to non-Dutch speaking audiences, in Dutch Nix is a homonym (or homophone to be precise) of "niks" which means "nothing", "rien", "nada", "nichts".
Stories need protecting too.
Until 7 November 2011 you can watch the film in full here.
