OK Go: A Million Ways. My favourite video of the year. It's also one of the most influential music videos of the year, since suddenly all kinds of indie bands started doing amateur dance videos. It also sparked a DIY video competition on YouTube organized by the band.
The White Stripes: The Denial Twist (QuickTime Mb) directed by Michel Gondry.
Etienne de Crecy: Fast Track. Simple idea but quite nice.
The Prodigy: The Voodoo People (QuickTime 11.9 Mb). Pretty cool.
Sun Ra: Pink Elephants One of the funniest videos I've seen in a long time. A mash up (QuickTime 17 MB), which mixes the parade sequence from Dumbo with the track of the same title by Sun Ra. Jazz is cool and cool jazz is hot.
LCD Soundsystem: Tribulations (QuickTime 17Mb). Great track. Nice video directed by Dougal Wilson.
Bonnie Prince Billy: Agnes, very simple animations that go well with the song, directed by David Shrigley who also does a series of lo-fi weekly animations for the BBC.
RJD2: 1976 (QuickTime 8Mb) a visual treat with imagery from Cuba.
The Kills: The Good Ones. Nothing special but it's a nice song and the video captures the idea of band playing at gallery opening in Chelsea.
The White Stripes: Blue Orchid (QuickTime 12Mb) directed by Floria Sigismondi is quite nice.
Beck: Girl (QuickTime 20.7Mb) has some nice special effects. London design collective D-Fuse has created a limited edition DVD with 30 something videos for Beck's new album Guero. In the download area of their site you can find some interesting experimental videos.
Jason Forrest: Steppin' off (QuickTime 28.7Mb). You must watch this totally hilarious 70s style video. It's like Lord of the Rings meets Led Zeppelin. Great track as well by the way.
The Prodigy: Hot Ride (QuickTime 14.8Mb) directed by Daniel Levi shows some Asian children on a rampage.
Fatboy Slim: The Joker. Kittens in drag. No joking. It's fun. It reminds me of one of those 60s 70s postcards. Same director as the Jason Forrest video above (Jon Watts).
The Brothers: Galvanize. An upbeat track featuring some great krumpin'.
Mako Shark: Club Jacket is pretty cool video (QuickTime 50Mb). Be sure to pump up the volume of your speakers.

In music, dance, theatre and cinema creating a beginning or an end is more difficult than composing the middle part, because, as in chess, the number of possibilities is limited. Just listen to the final seconds of a random selection of songs on your iPod.
