death valley

Location: Death Valley

Year: 2001

Comments: We drove from LA to Las Vegas where we spent the night. It was a truly awesome drive by the way, arriving in Las Vegas in the evening, seeing all those lights emerge from the desert. The next day we drove to Death Valley. We took the 95 then the 373, then the 190. Our first stop was at Zabriskie Point. We then had a fabulous lunch at the Furnace Creek Inn, looking out over Death Valley and spent the afternoon in the Sand Dunes near Stovepipe Wells. We spent the night in Beatty. The next day we took the road leading from the 374 through Titus Canyon, which I can highly recommend. It's an awesome drive. A SUV is recommended. Then we went to the Devil's Golf Course and after that we took Emigrant Canyon Road to Aguereberry Point for a final view of Death Valley, after which we took the 178 to Ridgecrest and then the 14 back to LA arriving at our apartment at about midnight. Way, way, way too short, but it's possible Death Valley in a long weekend from LA.
