This is another video from the This Location California project. The idea was to just stop the car as we were driving around California, get out, put the camera on the tripod and film a short improvised dance. It was all very much in an experimental spirit to discover the parameters that make it work.

The challenge is to capture both the dance and the specificity of the location. At first I'd wanted to choreograph a short piece and perform it at different locations, to investigate how the location would influence the visual experience of the dance, but we didn't have enough time to rehearse it. So instead we or rather Ester just improvised something.

On this occasion we had a bit of bad luck with the weather, it was cold and drowsy, not the hot and sunny weather you associate with the desert.
