In Gary Shteyngart's novel *Super Sad True Love Story*, a dystopian satire set in a not too distant future, people rank potential dates using an iPhone like device on a number of indices including their fuckability, credit score and sustainability. If a [recent story](http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/26/business/even-cupid-wants-to-know-your-credit-score.html?%5Fr=0&ref=ivarhagendoorn.com) in *The New York Times* is to be believed part of his vision is already a reality as some people in the U.S. ask their dates for their credit score before going on a follow-up date.

In more than one way *Super Sad True Love Story* is a surprisingly prescient novel. It was first published in the U.S. in July 2010\. Shteyngart almost predicted the Occupy Wall Street movement, which began on September 17, 2011 in New York City's Zuccotti Park. In the novel homeless, unemployed citizens set up tent cities around the U.S. and are eventually forced out by the National Guard who kill a few hundred protesters in the process.
