# Austerdalsbreen

On a glorious day in July 2013 I drove all the way from Hafslo to Tungestølen on a narrow road with five single lane tunnels only to realize after about half an hour of hiking that I would never make it to the glacier in time to reach my hotel in Geiranger before 11 pm. 

On a rainy day in July 2022 I did make it to the glacier as you can see in these photos. The first section of the trail was muddy and slippery because of the rain, but apart from that the hike is pretty straightforward. The (new) DNT hut at Tungestølen designed by Snøhetta is quite beautiful by the way.

I was hoping for the clouds to lift but with the low hanging clouds it actually also looks nice

The mystery revealed: I took a large step onto a rock in the lake to take this photo

As I was preparing to leave the clouds lifted. Shortly after that it began to drizzle again.
