Extremadura is one of the 17 autonomous regions in Spain. It is bordered by Andalucia to the south and by Portugal to the west. I started my road trip in Madrid. From there I drove west to Cáceres via Trujillo and then south to Sevilla via Mérida. I spent two weeks in Andalucia before driving back to Madrid. I found Extremadura quite nice and it would make a perfect destination in its own right. I had a memorable dinner and lunch in Cáceres.
On my way to Cáceres I made a stop in Trujillo to visit the old town, the castle and some of its churches.Trujillo is noted for its medieval and renaissance buildingsTrujillo is a nice quiet town. Cáceres has a university campus. I've seen the same kind of notice boards in Bologna, also a university town.
