# Ilulissat Icefjord

Upon returning from my trip to the [Eqi Glacier](https://www.ivarhagendoorn.com/photos/eqi-glacier/), the light in Ilulissat was magical. Inspired by the ethereal atmosphere, I eagerly booked a midnight cruise through the Icefjord. Fortunately, I was able to arrange the tour with the same company that had organized my excursion to the Eqi Glacier and Glacier Lodge Eqi. I spent the entire trip on the observation deck taking photos and admiring the amazing views. 

It was well past midnight when I finally returned to my hotel. Strangely, after only a brief sleep, I awoke to find that the weather had shifted dramatically—the fjord was now shrouded in a thick blanket of fog.

Upon my arrival in Ilulissat I made a series of photos of the [Ilulissat Icefjord](https://www.ivarhagendoorn.com/photos/ilulissat-icefjord-1/) from the shore. I had originally planned to spend three days in Ilulissat, but unfortunately my flight was cancelled on two consecutive days due to fog in both Nuuk and Ilulissat.

I was told that if an iceberg has a smooth surface that means it has already flipped.

Notice the two small boats in the distance in the photo above. I was on one of those as well.

The scenery was so quiet and tranquil. Otherworldly.

The other boat provides a sense of scale. The boat I was on was slightly larger.
