Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan, on the border with Pakistan, is best known for its ancient fort, which dates back to the 12 century. Whereas Jodhpur is known as the "Blue city", Jaisalmer is sometimes nicknamed the "Golden city", because of the yellow sandstone used for the fort and the town below. I was surprised to see how many people still live inside the fort. I had a bit of bad luck with the weather. I arrived on a sunny afternoon, but the next two days were cold and foggy, so I couldn't make the photos I'd been hoping for.

These stalls are semi permanent shops. They can be locked and closed.
