My journey through Rajasthan took me from Udaipur via Ranakpur to the Kumbhalgarh fort, then on to Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner and Jaipur and from there via Nawalgarh back to Delhi. I had a private car and driver. These photos were taken at various spots along the road.

Wherever you look there are walls or fences. A tremendous amount of time and energy has gone and still goes into raising these walls to demarcate plot borders. Plots are very small in India and become smaller with every generation as land is divided over multiple heirs. It's a real problem that stands in the way of further agricultural development.

Somewhere near Kumbhalgarh. The moment the driver stopped the car to let me get out and take some photos from out of nowhere I was descended upon by dozens of little children.

I was in Kumbhalgarh for a just few hours, but you could easily spend a day inside the fort.
