The hike from Schynige Platte via the peak of the Faulhorn to First is one of the classic hikes in the Swiss Alps. It offers amazing views of the Eiger, the Jungfrau and the Mönch on one side and of the Brienzersee (Lake Brienz) on the other. The historic train from Wilderswild to Schynige Platte is also quite fun.
The view towards the West from Schynige PlatteHard to believe, but I was told that a week earlier this area was covered with snow. That would have been nice.A nice spot for a short snack breakThe Faulhorn, the highest point of the hike at an elevation of 2681m. And yes, there is indeed a hotel and restaurant at the top.Looking down towards Lake BrienzThe view from the FaulhornAmazing views from the FaulhornThe beautiful lake Bachalpsee. It is of course also possible to take the cable car from Grindelwald to First and just hike to Bachalpsee. The Wetterhorn to the left and the Schreckhorn to the right. In between the Oberer Grindelwaldgletscher. The view from the shore of BachalpseeYou wouldn't know from this photo, but this is at an elevation of 2200m and between these green meadows and the mountains in the distance lies the Grindelwald valley at an elevation of 1000m.The Wetterhorn as seen from First
