I admit that I was skeptical when I first read that there would be a sequel to "Blade Runner" as I didn't think there was any need for a sequel. But when I saw the trailer I was quickly won over. Now that I have finally watched it all I can say is that "Blade Runner 2049" is quite simply an awesome movie. The cinematography is absolutely amazing. Whereas "Blade Runner" is drenched in rain, "Blade Runner 2049" is covered by dust. Global warming has taken its toll on planet Earth. I didn't realize it at first, but the city where Rick Deckard has taken refuge is Las Vegas.
Like the original "Blade Runner 2049" raises various philosophical questions. Slavoj Žižek raises a number of interesting points to which I have little to add, or at least until I've watched it a second or third time.
