While searching for some compositions mentioned in Alex Ross' "The Rest Is Noise" I came across this excellent performance of György Ligeti's "Mysteries of the Macabre" by the formidable Barbara Hannigan and the Gothenborg Symphony Orchestra.
"Mysteries of the Macabre" is a rare example of classical music that is both funny and interesting. The only other examples that I can think of are by Frank Zappa.
