Aletschgletscher Tour

In 2014 I hiked along the Aletschgletscher from Bergstation Bettmerhorn to Märjelensee. In the distance I could see some tiny spots moving on the glacier. I thus assumed that it would be possible to do a guided glacier hike. This year I finally booked a guided tour on the glacier. As you can see I was very lucky with the weather. It was absolutely spectacular and way surpassed my expectations. It's only when you're on the glacier that you realize how big it really is. I now want to do the two-day tour from Jungfraujoch to Märjelensee with an overnight stay at the Konkordia hut.

Crevasses on the Aletschgletscher
The Aletschgletscher consists of hills and valleys that you cannot really see from above
To reach the middle of the glacier you have to cross an area with crevasses and rocks

I was surprised to find this lake of melt water on the glacier. It's a big lake by the way.
A glacier hike is one of the closest things to being on another planet (not that I've been on another planet)
Another group to add some perspective

And one more photo of the crevasses

More glaciers! Gornergletscher, Svellnossbreen, Nigardsbreen, Falljökull, Glacier du Tour and the Glacier Trail Felskinn Mattmark.
