Delhi

Delhi

Delhi is dirty and congested, the air pollution is among the worst in the world, the poverty is depressing and yet I had a great time taking photos across Delhi. I was moved by the enthusiasm I met with in the streets of Old Delhi. Wherever you go in India people like to have their photo taken. The back alleys of Old Delhi in particular were a lot of fun. These photos were all taken in 2007. A lot may have changed since then, for better and for worse.

Of course, there's street food everywhere in Old Delhi

I hesitate about taking photos like this one and the one below, but I also want to capture what the city and the streets look like and this is part of reality.
This was my last photo in Delhi (and India). I surreptitiously gave him some change, or so I thought, but once again I instantly found myself surrounded by a dozen or so people begging for money.
