Istanbul has a rich cultural history. I only visited the main sites and spent some time exploring two neighbourhoods on both the European and the Asian side. I enjoyed seeing the layers of history. Unfortunately, my photos of the basilica cistern didn’t come out as I’d hoped. With today's high ISO settings it should be easier to make decent photos. These photos were taken in 2009, so before Erdogan strengthened his reign and before the hyperinflation.
