Istanbul has a rich cultural history. I only visited the main sites and spent some time exploring two neighbourhoods on both the European and the Asian side. I enjoyed seeing the layers of history. Unfortunately, my photos of the basilica cistern didn’t come out as I’d hoped so I have to go back some time. These photos were taken in 2009, so before Erdogan strengthened his reign and before the hyperinflation.
