The McKittrick Oil Field is a large oil and gas field in Kern County, California. It has been operational since the late 19th century. As of 2008, there were over 1,000 producing oil wells on the field. I grew up near an oil field and the sight of nodding donkeys has always had a special significance to me, bringing back childhood memories.
