Nigardsbreen Glacier

Nigardsbreen is a glacier arm of the Jostedalsbreen glacier. It lies about 30 kilometres north of Gaupne in Sogn og Fjordane county, making it one of the most easily accessible glaciers in Norway. At the last minute I booked a short glacier hike on Nigardsbreen. I was glad I did. It was phenomenal. These photos were taken in 2013. When I visited again in 2016 it was pouring with rain and I was unable to take any good photos. I was shocked to see how far the glacier had retreated in the intervening years. I wonder how far it has receded after the record breaking summers of 2018 and 2019.

Getting closer
At the foot of the Nigardsbreen glacier
I just can't get enough
Goodbye Nigardsbreen
