Upon seeing a photo of the Oeschinensee in Wanderlust Europe I put it on top of my list for my next trip to Switzerland. The Oeschsinensee is indeed one of the most idyllic sites in Switzerland and the hike to the Blüemlisalphütte is awesome. I had a late start and I didn’t want to miss the last cable car back to Kandersteg so I didn’t go all the way to the Blüemlisalphütte. I had originally planned to do this hike the next day, but because of the weather forecast I had to bring it forward by one day. I’m glad I did, because the weather was perfect and the next day was cloudy and rainy. However, it did mean I had to get up at 6am in order to be in Kandersteg at 9:30. And then I still had to drop off my luggage at my hotel and get to the cable car station. But it was all worth it, as you can see. What's more, I now have a reason to go back one day.

I am sometimes asked how you get to the top: well, step by step
The Blüemlisalp glacier. This is why I hiked several hours.
In the distance the Blüemlisalphütte, but unfortunately this is where I had to return so as to make it back to the cable car station in time and still have enough time to take some photos along the way
What a glorious location to eat a piece of fresh apricot pie
The same view with some cows in the foreground
The beautiful Oeschinensee
The tiny spots on the lake are boats that you can rent at the restaurant
