The Seltún-Krýsuvík geothermal area was my introduction to Iceland and to geothermal fields. It was surprisingly quiet, given that it is only a short drive from Keflavik Airport and Reykjavik and not far from the Blue Lagoon. I basically had the site almost to myself. There is a hike which leads up into the mountains from which you have great views of the surrounding area.

The steam is hot, it is steam after all, and has a foul smell, that you instantly recognize and will never forget

I love those colours! This is almost abstract art.

I was lucky that it was sunny, which brought out the colours quite well
