On a perfect summer day I did a guided hike across the stunning Svellnosbreen glacier in Jotunheimen National Park. "Breen" actually means "glacier" in Norwegian, so technically adding the word "glacier" is redundant.
I didn't know what to expect and it exceeded any expectations I might have had. It went straight into the top 10 of things I've done in my life so far. It marked the beginning of my fascination with glaciers.
In the years since I've done several other glacier tours, but the hike across Svellnosbreen remains the best and the most spectacular, largely because of our wonderful guide, Karl, who took our group along an amazing adventure.

At this point I'm already well onto or should I say into the glacier.

Goodbye Svellnosbreen. I wonder what will be left if I ever have a chance to visit again.
