In 2005 I finally had a chance to visit the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein, just across the border from Basel. I took a guided tour, which led through the conference pavilion by Tadao Ando and the Vitra Fire Station by Zaha Hadid. The Vitra Fire Station, by the way, is no longer in use as a fire station. In the years since a building by Herzog and De Meuron has been added to the collection of architectural showpieces, so I guess I should visit again some time.
