Jerash, about 50 km north of Amman, is the site of the ruins of the Greco-Roman settlement of Gerasa. It is pretty awesome and the complex was much larger than I expected. I spent a full afternoon exploring the colonnaded avenues, temples and theatres. It was one of many highlights of my trip to Jordan.
