The Stanley Glacier hike in Kootenay National Park is pretty awesome. The hike is sometimes referred to as a fire and ice trail, as the trail goes from a recovering burned forest to an alpine meadow, to the receding Stanley Glacier, or what remains of it, as it has all but disappeared. The Stanley Glacier trail is also the site of Burgess Shale fossil beds and guided tours are available.

In the middle the Stanley Glacier or what remains of it. By the time you see these photos it may be gone altogether
