The hike from Engelberg via Surenenpass to Attinghausen is considered one of the most impressive of central Switzerland. I started at Fürenalp. From there I hiked to the Surenenpass. I didn't continue all the way to Attinghausen though, but took the same way back. For one thing, there was still a lot of snow on the other side of the Surenenpass. Instead or returning to Fürenalp I descended via Stäuber and Stäfeli to the valley station Engelberg/Fürenalp. On my way back I made a brief stop at one of the farms for some delicious cheese and soup. The area around Engelberg is famous for its cheese and there is even a hike which takes you past a number of farms.

If the mountain peaks are covered in clouds then, of course, if you keep climbing at some point you will end up in the clouds as indeed happened as I continued my ascent.

The mountains actually look quite nice in black and white
