Ta Prohm is one of several temples at Angkor, built in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. It was founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university. It has been left largely in the state in which it was found, with huge trees growing among the ruins. It is one of the most visited temples in the Angkor region.
