I’m not a big fan of Dolce & Gabbana, but the exhibition “Du Coeur à la Main” at the Grand Palais is nothing short of phenomenal and definitely one of the best shows of the year. The exhibition brings together 200 creations from Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria collections and some 300 accessories as well as over 100 artworks that were custom made for the exhibition. The works are displayed in ten immersive rooms spread out over three floors of the Grand Palais. The scenography for each room is spectacular and designed around themes such as Architecture and Artists; Sicilian Traditions; White Baroque; The Leopard and Opera.

All of this is opulent, decadent, postmodern, you name it. It succeeds because it is so completely over the top and so exceptionally well executed.

The exhibition is also a rare opportunity to see the designs from Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda collections from up close. I LOVED seeing the immaculate craftsmanship that goes into their intricate creations. I can only begin to imagine how many hours go into making any of these dresses.

One of my favorite rooms was a recreation of one of Dolce & Gabbana’s workshops, complete with drawings, models, fabrics, pins and ironing boards. I also loved the colorful Sicily themed room and the extravagant Architecture and Artists room.

The exhibition is a love letter to Italian art and culture. I can’t think of a better country promotion. I now want to visit Sicily and Puglia and immerse myself in Italian culture.

Dolce & Gabbana. Du Coeur à la Main is at the Grand Palais in Paris until 2 April 2025. After Milan and Paris the exhibition will continue its global tour, but the next stops are kept secret.
