The Matterhorn is one of the most iconic mountains in the world. From Zermatt trails lead to different viewpoints one more beautiful than the other. Of course, Zermatt is also the base for climbing the Matterhorn. The day of my departure I hiked the Matterhorn Glacier trail from Trockenersteg at an elevation of 2,939m to Schwarzsee at 2,583m. It was a glorious day. I was totally consumed by the spectacle in front of me and I only just about made it back to town to catch my train to Zurich.
