Mettelhorn
On a glorious day in July 2026 I finally made it to the summit of Mettelhorn. It is one of the best day hikes in Switzerland. The views are among the most spectacular in the Alps.
Oberrothorn
On a clear day the 360 views from Oberrothorn are amazing. The hike to the top is relatively easy, especially if you take the cable car up to Rothorn.
Lauteraarhütte
The hike to the Lauteraarhütte is relatively easy but long. At the hut you are rewarded with spectacular views and apricot pie, or soup if you prefer.
Aareschlucht
The Aareschlucht (Aare Gorge) is an awesome 1,400 meter long 200 meter deep gorge near Meiringen in Berner Oberland.
Breithorn
The weather forecast had been good, but unfortunately the Breithorn was covered in clouds during my ascent to the top. It did make for some nice atmospheric photos.
Cabane du Grand Mountet
The hike to the Cabane du Grand Mountet is one of the best hikes in the Swiss Alps. It's long and strenuous but the views from the Cabane du Grand Mountet are stunning.
