The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia designed by Santiago Calatrava is a spectacular architectural complex.

I enjoyed walking around the gritty old centre of Valencia. I wish I'd stayed overnight instead of making a day trip from Barcelona.
Venice
I visited Venice in 2005 on the occasion of the Venice Biennale. At the time it was still possible to find some empty streets and alleys.

I had the great fortune of visiting the Casa da Musica by OMA|Rem Koolhaas on a guided tour before the official opening, when the building was still largely empty.
