As part of the China Contemporary exhibition the Netherlands Architecture Institute organized a series of events, which included a lecture by Rem Koolhaas. It was a very interesting lecture.

The organizers of the exhibition at the NAI have done well to focus exclusively on a number of young Chinese architectural practices. While their approaches vary they all share a critical and pragmatic attitude towards the challenges presented by the rapidly growing and changing Chinese cities.

The most interesting part of the exhibition is the setting Hussein Chalayan created in the Coop Himmelb(l)au pavilion of the Groninger Museum.

"Beauty and Waste in the Architecture of Herzog & De Meuron" at the Netherlands Architecture Institute is a visual treat and provides a fascinating insight into the thinking that goes into Herzog & de Meuron's designs.

With SMLXL Rem Koolhaas redefined the architectural monograph. Now with Content he has done it again.

A solo architecture exhibition not only shows what a practice does, how it wants to be perceived and what it stands for, it also conveys something of its mentality.
